Valentine’s Day is right around the corner so I wanted to share a craft that my children and I do each year in order to decorate our house on a dime.

Project List:

  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Tape
  • Ribbon
  • Construction Paper – pinks, white, red
  • Scissors

Note: I use a combination of store bought and handmade, but I keep everything color coded: white, red, pinks (different shades). If there is a sale on scrapbook paper I will look for Valentine’s Day prints and use those as well.

Homemade Hearts: I use a variety of  heart shaped cookie cutters and trace them onto sheets of different colored construction paper. Then I cut out the heart shapes and decorate with stickers and glitter. Once those are dry, we (my children and I) attach a piece of ribbon to each on so we can hang them from our ceiling tiles. We save some hearts and tape them onto our windows.

This is a simple and fun activity that most ages can enjoy.
